About Our Society

The Ottery St Mary Heritage Society is located in the parish of Ottery St Mary in East Devon, UK and is open to everyone who is interested in the history and heritage of the the town and its surrounding villages.

Everyone is welcome. Membership provides quarterly journals which contain historical articles and news of events and museum developments and donations. Members can attend the speaker events free of charge too.

The Society is a charity (CIO Registered Charity No 1179598) founded in 1999 which promotes the wider knowledge and understanding of our local history and culture.

• We run 10 meetings a year where specialists address members on topics of varied interest.

• We publish a quarterly Journal and, less frequently, books on the history of the locality.

• We also undertake archaeological field work in the parish and arrange outings to places further afield.
